I came across this list of idioms after i had to explain to a friend from kansas that i was not literally "beating a dead horse" it made me think of my days in college trying to learn spanish and not really comprehending the grammatical sentence structures. and how hard it must be for people to learn english with all our crazy colloquialisms and dialects. going through the list there were a couple i've never heard of, and i've spoken english my entire life.
