happy valentines day everyone! i finally figured out how to upload photos from my new camera, so let me take you back two weeks ago when i was the ripe young age of 25. i spent the morning at stonecreek pouring strangers coffee and making rosettas and hearts in their lattes. came home and took a long cozy nap. opened a giant gift from mom & dad (a fire-safe lock-box to keep valuable papers in, etc. how responsible) then i got all dolled up, ben folds tickets in hand and met my bro for beers at sugar maple. after sampling some of their 60 american craft beers we picked up his lady love and stuffed our faces at lulu's! that was followed by free valet parking at the milwaukee athletic club and a fabulous packed concert at the riverside.
lulu's pita hummas trio and pitchers of spotted cow
the perfect way to ring in my 26th year
scenes from across the table
my bros new ladyfriend owns a house in bay view, frequents kk ave, is super sweet and smart and occasionally rides the sass train... i think she's a keeper
these shots were taken from the middle balcony! thank you 10x optical zoom. street corner symphony, the runners up in the sing off opened for ben and they were AMAZING and such great, approachable guys. and ben was so much fun as usual. it was interesting to see the progression of fans from the front row to the top balcony. the 'kids' in the front looked like they were in high school. they were obnoxious, screaming, jumping on each other, spilling beer everywhere and they kept shouting 'the army' and 'the luckiest' and 'brick'. . although i do enjoy his early classic stuff, i was so happy he played most of his new collaborated album lonely avenue with nick hornby. i was with the 'kids' in the back. we were all mid 20's-early 30's, sitting, relaxing with a couple beers and just enjoying the music. all in all it was a terrific performance. he always leaves me asking myself why i wait so long between his shows :)
...more pictures about fun birthday times to come! including a chicago weekend of being dragged out of my comfort zone, hailing cabs and sweet reunions. and a return trip to the riverside for a 10x optical zoom date with the decemberists. also coming to a blog post near you - brand new crafts, vegetable garden blueprints and vermicomposting projects!
