shark week

new album releases are a great start to a great week:
snagged an interview for a grown-up job
new craft projects on the to-do list
packers go to the superbowl
martin sexton @ turner hall
ben folds @ the riverside
birthday dinner @ lulu's
weekend in chicago
new camera
new tunes

no worries,
the decemberists are still in rotation
i'm to the point where i'm discovering
little things i never noticed the 1st time
bass riffs and colin meloy's ever-expanding vocabulary

for those of us doomed to never be as cool as our music libraries would suggest

i do not identify with hipsters (mostly because i refuse to wear skinny jeans & flannel while drinking pbr) but sometimes we have over-lapping music tastes... sometimes.

thank god the week is done; i feel like a zombie gone; back to life, back back to life

in addition to a computer virus and loss of my entire music library, i'm finally back on track to getting my life in order after shorewood mcstickyfingers jacked my wallet... and camera. so how do you heal a broken trust and a broken back account?
how about a good friend back in the brew city on military leave?
yea... that'll do it.
andys not too sure about the
voodoo hippy magic
i learned to cure hiccups
while he was gone

also good cures for getting your head on straight:
mummies & imax movies at the public museum
grass fed & finished burgers with sweet potato fries
beiber fever
the decemberists tickets
and a week of puppy sitting

who ya gonna call?

ghostbusters? i doubt they know how to deal with identity theft.
however i did call:
the shorewood police
the bank
the parents
the federal credit bureau
the boss
the dmv
the financially savvy brother
- reeeewind -
...yesterday while at work, minding my own business, pouring coffee for strangers for minimum wage, someone broke into our back office and stole my wallet out of my purse. i know it could have been a lot worse but i still feel violated. also, i am now suspect of everyone that comes in. and along with my trust in the shorewood community they also took:
lots of cash money
credit cards
debit card
drivers license
social security card
gift cards
6 concert tickets
and my sanity
luckily, some really old friends were in town and helped me drown my sorrows in pizza, beer and super strong cocktails. which is odd because the last time we saw each other none of us were old enough to drink. it's been a good 10 years since we got together and although we were sill short a few, it was nice to capture the moment.
two-thirds of my childhood

how 'bout them apples

i hope everyone had a very happy holiday season and wrapped up 2010 with a pretty little bow then kicked it to the curb. personally, i'm ready to put oh.ten behind me and move on to another year of unreasonable goals and grape expectations. 'keep your nose clean and your head up' - now those are some resolutions i can keep. reluctantly, i wrote down some other seemingly attainable ambitions. but if they're all forgotten by april, i probably won't be phased. here are a handful, in no particular order:

*read the never-been-cracked books on my shelves
*take more pictures
*step out (be dragged out) of my comfort zone... weekly
*floss... daily
*watch more movies, less tv
*obtain permanent health insurance
*volunteer more
*take an asl refresher course
*write more snail mail
*eat 'in season'
...such as this delicious fall harvest treat i whipped up back in october

here's lookin' at you mac
